I've heard this expression all my life, and I know how it's used, but what on earth does the "A" mean? Or is it Canadian or something - fuckin eh?

I too thought it was asshole, but Dave has all sorts of cites indicating it's A as in grade A. IIRC, some military cites along the lines of "Fucking A-1!" or "Fucking A Number 1!".

What you're missing, T., is that "fucking A" is not generally used as a phrase of abuse, as in "fucking asshole", but as an emphatic agreement."Did you guys win?""Fuckin' A!"
